Since the early 1920's America's Keswick has been at the forefront of acknowledging and helping to reverse the effects of addiction in the lives on men and women. America’s Keswick is a faith-based, nonprofit organization that tasked Crane Associates with the renovations and upgrades to many buildings on their campus.

America’s KESWICK serves the local community and public at large to meet the needs for rest, refreshment, recreation and renewal. Crane has worked closely with America’s Keswick over the past several years, in planning for growth as well as upgrading and expanding their existing facilities. The three pronged project on the Whiting grounds encompassed an expansion and upgrade of the Men's Center, Main Dining Hall and Women's Center.

Men’s Colony of Mercy - Addiction Recovery Center Expansion and Upgrade
This first project included new administrative offices and additional men’s quarters, as well as new and expanded ADA compliant restroom facilities. A mechanical equipment room was added including a new hot water boiler and heating system and chilled water air conditioning system with fan coils. The building facade was updated and new windows installed. Crane Associates was responsible for providing and managing the architectural, structural, fire, and MEP design and administration services during construction.

Raw's Memorial - Main Dining Hall Expansion and Upgrade
The next phase of building focused on the main dining hall. Due to its size, the main dining room could no longer accommodate the guest population during major events.  The rear porch area was a perfect solution for expanding the dining room facilities and providing additional meeting rooms.  This project scope included enclosing the porch area to expand the main dining room, upgrades and modifications to the roof, including skylights, an HVAC upgrade, fire protection and plumbing system. The interior finishes were updated, including decorative lighting, as well as the the exterior facade and installation of new windows. Structural reinforcement of the building was also designed. Crane worked closely with Keswick personnel to craft plans for the architectural and structural expansions and renovations, and to ensure all needs were being met in a timely and fiscally respected manner. Fire, and MEP design and construction administration services were also executed for the duration of the project.

Barbara's Place – Women's Addition Recovery Center

The final phase of construction focused on the Women's Center. This project includes the complete renovation and rehabilitation of an existing 4,000 sq. ft. residential facility for use as a women's therapeutic addition recovery facility.

Upon completion of an investigatory survey and analysis, Crane designed the architectural, structural and MEP plans for the renovation. The team supervised all renovations throughout the building process beginning with demolition of the existing bathrooms and kitchen. All floor, wall, and ceiling finishes were upgraded and replaced and a new toilet room was installed. CA supervised upgrades and replacement of the lighting fixtures, windows, roof shingles and trim. The exercise room and electric service and main panel were also upgraded. A full dormer was built on the second floor for a new recreation center and an HVAC system was installed for central air cooling. The project was complete with waterproofing of foundation walls and new sidewalks and retaining walls surrounding the facility.

Crane Associates had developed a trusted relationship with America’s Keswick and will continue to work with them in the future. Projects in discussion include:

  • Upgraded water system
